Responsibly Beautiful
Handcrafted
Handmade products are inherently more sustainable because they are crafted on a small scale with minimal machinery, reducing energy consumption and waste. By focusing on quality and longevity, handmade items have a longer lifespan and avoid the mass production footprint.
Wood
Basswood: Found in central Canada and Northern USA, it's a sustainable choice due to its high carbon-sequestering ability. Its light weight along with ease of drying/shaping keep both manufacturing emissions and transportation fuel use low.
Northern Oak: Native to North America, in the eastern/central United States and southeast/south-central Canada. Oak trees can live for centuries, providing a continuous and renewable resource. When harvested, the number of oak trees in the forest is not diminished.
Metals
Stainless Steel: Stainless steel is highly durable and 100% recyclable, making it a sustainable choice for long-lasting jewelry. It requires significant energy to produce but is often made from a high percentage of recycled content, helping reduce its overall environmental impact.
Sterling Silver: Sterling silver is also fully recyclable and can be reused without degrading its quality. Although mining silver has environmental costs, many jewelers use recycled silver to minimize the impact on natural resources.
Copper: Copper is a readily recyclable metal with low toxicity, and it requires less energy to process than many other metals. Sourcing copper sustainably involves using recycled copper, which reduces the need for new mining and helps lower its environmental footprint.
